    BUCKET LIST:   Eight Year 13 students from Tuxford Academy gave up their day  to raise money for charity
    YEAR 13 students from Tuxford have raised £600 for charities and gap year pupils with a bit of shopping around. Eight Tuxford Academy pupils dropped in to the Newark branch of Asda to attract donations for The White Ribbon Alliance and other charities, as well as funds for gap year students.     ADULTS looking to improve their literacy and numeracy skills are being invited to a Tuxford Academy 'Helping with Homework' course. The course is open to anyone, though the school says it will be particularly helpful to parents in need of more confidence to help their children with school work. Sessions will be run by a provider from Dukeries College, and students will work towards an accredited numeracy or literacy qualification. ...

    PUPILS at a Retford school have started a new chapter on learning at the school with a extension and an improved library. This week saw the opening ceremony of Elkesley Primary School's new county-council funded extension. The new facility, which includes a new library, reception area and meeting room, was built during the 2011 summer holiday.   • Schools faced with reducing energy costs

    SCHOOLS in the county are being faced with around £2,000 each being sliced out of their budget to pay for carbon emissions. The cost is one of the implications of the county council's 2012/13 budget, which councillors were due to vote on last night. Proposed saving of £670,000 would be achieved by taking the same figure out of the schools' Department of Education-funded budget, instead of Notts County Council's own funds....
