Step this way: Visitors poured through the doors of Retford's Bassetlaw Museum on Retford Heritage Day. This is a gorgeous building in its own right and there's always lots of interesting things to see inside, like the current exhibition 'All Things Material'.
Featuring the work of textile artists from Second Turning Textile Group, the display, which runs until Saturday, January 28, is entitled 'All Things Material' and shows how embroidery has been used for decorative effect for centuries - and how modern textile artists employ it in their work today.
Many techniques have been combined in the exhibition with quilting, felting and knitting all on display, incorporated with lace, sequins, buttons and beading. And visitors will also have an opportunity to meet the artists on Saturday January 21 between 10.30am and 12.30pm at the gallery.
Contact the museum for more information about this or any of its exhibitions / events - and if you go along and like what you see, why not write a review on Retford People?
Bassetlaw Museum on Grove Street, Retford is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and entrance is free.
