The Gate Inn

Same gorgeous setting, great new look

It was a while since I had been in The Gate Inn as I usually just drive past and do not pay much attention. However I was very glad that I stopped for a closer look about a month back before heading off for a walk along the canal. It looks so gorgeous inside following a complete refurbishment (the toilets in particular are surely the nicest of any pubs in the area - immaculate condition and sparkling-clean) and I found the man behind the bar to be very friendly and welcoming, although I was not buying a meal on this occasion. I have since been back and not surprisingly the food and drink was delicious, and the service excellent. With ample parking on site this is also a really nice place to just sit by the water, relax and watch the world go by. I will certainly return!
