Children's Beginner and improver riding lessons

At Grove House Stables Equestrian Centre we aim to provide entertaining, progressive tuition for children of all riding abilities. Children may start to ride from the age of 4 years. Beginners are taught to ride on a one-to-one basis in half hourly sessions. These 'half hour privates' introduce children to riding basics and may be booked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 4pm - 6pm (Late Night Wednesday 7.30pm – 8.00pm), Saturday and Sunday 2.00pm, 2.30pm, 4.00pm and 4.30pm subject to availability. Special introduction courses are available which lasts for 6 weeks and includes in the price a course achievement certificate. These courses must be booked in advance as numbers are strictly limited £136.50.

Once children can walk and trot off the lead rein, we recommend they move into a
Improver / beginner group, before progressing to the mainstream groups. Group lessons last for one hour, comprising a group of up to 8 children of similar ability. Times for these groups are available from the office.

Children who have ridden before are assessed in an initial one-to-one half-hour or hour
Assessment session. During this session the Instructor will give feedback and recommend a suitable group. Once children have joined a group lesson their progress is assessed on an individual basis. The coaches will advise riders when they are ready to progress to the next level.
