I am quite suprised that Retford has any retail operations at all!
Look at the empty shops around you!
Reasons for this?
Complete and utter lack of parking spots for the "pop in shopper and the prevalance of "parking enforcement officers" who have been observed attempting to ticket txi drivers who have the temerity to try to drop off their fares!
Perhaps the council should come out from behind their gift wrapped premisses and have a good look at the place.
What happened to the new taxi rank that they were going to make, or the parking spaces that were going to be created in the corner of the Market Place?
Perhaps we should all be demanding a reduction in our business rates?

Retford people with strong views about parking - or anything! - why not share them with others by posting on the site...

The parking in Retford should be looked into, either free parking given, or reduced rates for the hours you are getting.

The should be a small free carpark also available for the pop-in shoppers, so that they dont have to pay for 3 hours when they shall only be in the town for 10 mins.

Also why should people park and come to retford and pay the high parking prices, when many other areas offer it for free.

This is a very serious issue that needs to be looked into .

There's just no pleasing some people - I bet there are other local towns with much more parking troubles than Retford!
I still think it's a great place to live, work and shop...
