VIEWS on how to deal with flooding are being sought from the Retford public to form a new strategy.

Notts County Council is currently developing a local flood risk management strategy which will set out how organisations and communities should work together to manage the risk.

The strategy is being developed in stages to allow for continued consultation with those who will be affected.

The authority expects to complete the strategy for summer 2013.

First phase of the consultation has now gone live and people can fill in an online survey, which is also available in other languages and formats on request. The survey is open until March 31.

"We want to understand the perspective of others, their opinion on what our priorities should be and enhance our understanding of local flood risk concerns and issues," said an authority spokesman.

"These responses will be considered in the development of the strategy and further consultation on this will take place at a later date."

An information pack is being sent out to communities, which includes information about increasing community resilience to flooding, a directory of flood resources and letters from the flood risk manager and Councillor Bruce Laughton.
