THE traditional Boxing Day hunt venue will move from Retford to Bawtry this year for the first time in decades.

BAWTRY MEET: This year's Boxing Day hunt meet will be outside the Crown Hotel in Bawtry
This year's Grove and Rufford Hunt meet will take place at the Crown Hotel, Bawtry on Monday December 26.
In recent years Retford has hosted the event, with Retford United's Cannon Park ground on Leverton Road being last year's venue.
This year, members will gather outside the hotel before moving off at 11am.
Grove and Rufford Hunt secretary, Jane Bowen, said: "It is lovely to be invited by the Crown as it is many years since we met in Bawtry town.
"Last year hundreds turned out to be part of the traditional Boxing Day spectacle, the change of venue will make it easier for car parking."
Riders are welcome to join for a thrilling day out, says the hunt. Call Jane Bowen on 07788 523917 or check the Grove and Rufford Hunt website (www.groverufford hunt.org.uk) for more details.
The Grove and Rufford Hunt follows a line to comply with the Hunting Act and meets at different venues throughout South Yorkshire and North Notts on Tuesdays and Saturdays from September to March.
The hunt heralded its annual hunt ball at Ye Olde Bell Hotel at the end of November as a "great success" with nearly 450 guests attending the event.
