YEAR 13 students from Tuxford have raised £600 for charities and gap year pupils with a bit of shopping around.

Eight Tuxford Academy pupils dropped in to the Newark branch of Asda to attract donations for The White Ribbon Alliance and other charities, as well as funds for gap year students.

Associate principal Jenny Taylor said the hard work of the students had earned them a permanent picture in the store.

"This was a totally selfless act; the students gave up their time before, during and after the day - so many of the general public were charmed by them," she said.
