Schools faced with reducing energy costs

SCHOOLS in the county are being faced with around £2,000 each being sliced out of their budget to pay for carbon emissions.
The cost is one of the implications of the county council's 2012/13 budget, which councillors were due to vote on last night.
Proposed saving of £670,000 would be achieved by taking the same figure out of the schools' Department of Education-funded budget, instead of Notts County Council's own funds.
A report suggests the switch will be an incentive to monitor energy usage.
"Top slicing this money will ensure schools take reducing their energy use seriously," the report reads.
