Retford dog-walkers - could your pooch be a waterway photo star?

Planning on heading out along the scenic Chesterfield Canal on a walk with your pooch over the next few days? If so, take some pics en route and you could be giving your beloved pet a sniff of national stardom!

British Waterways is asking dog lovers to get out and about on their local canals and photograph their pooches as the organisation searches for a 'canal-loving canine'.... he or she will front up a marketing campaign for the Canal and River Trust - the charity which will take over British Waterway's responsibility for running 2,000 miles of waterways from April 2012!

So if you think your pet's furry features are worthy of attention you have until December 31 to get out there, snap away and post your pics online for a chance to win. It's the perfect time after all the food and drink of the last few days to head out for some fresh air and enjoy the scenery and tranquility of the waterways on your doorstep - while also giving your dog a welcome leg-stretch too.
