Retford crime figures fall

CRIME in Retford has fallen 16 per cent in the last year, lastest Home Office figures have shown. The number of

car thefts recorded has halved and crime continues to fall

faster in Notts than anywhere else in the country.

All crime fell by 13 per cent between June 2010 and June 2011, putting the

county joint highest with Leicestershire for crime reduction nationally.

Both the number of attacks and sexual offences went down 46 per cent in the

town, with robbery falling 40 per cent and violent crime being reduced by more

than a third.

We're asking people to let us know what you think of these figures. Are less crimes getting reported, or is the town and the county really becoming safer? Do you feel safe in Retford?

True, police forces get a lot of stick.

It was'nt so long ago that Nottinghamshire Police were proven to be one of the worst Police forces in the country. People do not have much faith in the Police force as a whole these days I think. The Police waste there time arresting people for menial things these days which 20 years ago you would not be arrested for i.e drunks being a little to loud on a night out. From what I hear of Retford it is as bad or if not worse than when I was there 14 years ago. When you are in a recession also crime will increase because people can easily be tempted by the lure of quick and easy money

Notts Police are doing a good job.

I prefer living in Retford to previous addresses, nice town and crime is generally low.

Retford feels safe, I think the police other organisations and the local community work quite well together to make that happen.

I think Retford is a fairly safe place to live, but it is probably winter/Christmas when some crime levels go up?, such as theft or alcohol related behaviour...i know the latter is not always regarded as 'crime' but it is still a nuisance in the community!

I feel quite safe in Retford as opposed to living in say a city where I would not feel safe going out at night it it meant walking anywhere on my own.
